WHAT HAPPENED?
Madrid have amped up their pursuit of Davies in recent months, and are reportedly considering meeting Bayern's €50 million (£43m/$54m) asking price to bring the left-back to the Santiago Bernabeu. The German side, though, are reluctant to sell one of their most important players.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking to reinforce the left-back position with Ferland Mendy struggling for fitness and Fran Garcia yet to impress. And Davies has been identified as a primary target, with the player's agent admitting that his client would be willing to move away from Germany before his contract expires in 2025.

WHAT BAYERN MUNICH SAID
But Bayern have remained defiant in the face of speculation. Club president Herbert Hainer said: "He’s with us under contract until June 2025, he’s one of the best full-backs in the world. Of course we want to keep Davies and I hope he wants to stay also."
